compressor surging

Question compressor surging
I bought a used compressor a month ago or so and after a few times using it the compressor is now surging and will not build past 50 psi. Is it time for a new motor? Its a 230v 5hp 60 gallon single stage.

the actual motor is surging though not belt slipping.

think i figured it out. I believe that i burnt up my breaker so i am going to try to change that.

Since the breaker crapped out, I'm guessing you weren't getting a full 240v at the compressor motor. Probably why it would only go to 50psi.

If the breaker U R referring to, is in the panel.. there's another problem. Something is causing excessively hi amp draws, above the breaker rating....IE: Start capacitor fubar, on the motor??
Start up amp draws can be up to 6x running amps.
