Default rivet question

Sometimes the long part of the rivet that goes into the gun snaps in the gun, leaving the long shaft coming from the rivet head. Is this a rivet, gun, or technique issue? thanks

Big daddy rivets have several types. most snap and leave 1/4 sticking out

This could be any of the three. Just make sure you are on there straight, you apply some force and you are not resting your finger on the trigger.

you definitely have to use force to squeeze the handle together. how are you shaving down the part sticking out, thats normally broke off? i thought about a die grinder?

Use a pin punch and push the "nail" clean out?

My gun has two lever arms and looks something like this:

With adjustment of the parts assembly (see jam nut, main bore and the installed tip,) the nail will drop right out of it. Your gun may be different but check it out.
