What's the budget? do you want it to just look like a metal building? or do you want character? maybe what i am asking is, are you looking for 'form or function' or what combination of the two. just to throw out another couple ideas, in the next few days i'll take some pics of my fathers motorcycle shop and barn in-progress that he has built...cathedral ceilings with exposed structural beams, tile floor, wood floor, heavy duty work benches, loft, brick arches, turret...he pretty much builds whatever he imagined. find/build something that will keep you inspired - if ur into the asthetics. if not, the other guys have the tool side of things well covered.

Not really sure on the budget, I just want, what I want

I can't find a freaking price on a 50x100 steel building...or any steel building.

They all want to call me and figure everything out first. I just want a damned ballpark number lol

http://www.muellerinc.com

That's the company I purchased my building from. I don't know if they ship to Ohio though. I went with a 30'x60' with 12' walls and a 20'x30' lean-to for a carport. It has 2 10' roll up doors and 1 walk thru. The building comes pre engineered and is all bolt up, so no welding or cutting is involved. It cost me right at 14,000 for the building and carport, but I spent more than that on concrete.

I love the building pic that LiteMUP posted. I'd love to know who built it and what it cost. That is our dream house.

Great garage info!

BAD AZZ IDEA!
I've been looking at how to make an in floor vehicle rotation setup for about a month haven't found much of anything as I will be putting two of those in my shop at home.

Floor covering has been my latest search epoxy, tiles, or race deck?

I have been looking into what I could do to improve my garage and came across a website that everyone in this thread should love, www dot garagejournal dot com.

Click on the forum section at the top and it is similar in layout to ls1tech but has sections for flooring, lighting, and one for showing off their current garage builds.

Some of them are amazing and will definately give you guys some great ideas.

if you have 5 cars you want to fit in there plus have all those other areas, it will take more than 5,000 sq ft with a living area. I work in a 7500 sqft building and we can barely fit 9 cars in there and there wouldn't be much roon for living quarters. We do have a clean room that will hold 2 of the 9. That might be a good size for you, but I think it might still be a little small.

About a "million" metal bldg co's on a Google search. Some have programs that you can use to layout, and get quotes on. Everything from naked, to fully dressed, turnkey..

here is the one my dad and I have been building

https://ls1tech.com/forums/tools-fab...op-garage.html

you would need bigger but I like the idea of a loft I think a 40x60 would be good for what you need and the loft upstairs would also be nice.

Here's the garage my father and I built. Finished it a couple of years ago. The upstairs was intended to be an office, but we changed our mind and decided it was unnecessary. Not sure what we're doing with it (other than storing all of my crap right now). Excuse the mess. Don't have any real up to date pics. I think these are all about 2 or 3 years old and construction isn't even finished yet.
The porch on the upstairs portion now has a fully plumbed bar and mini fridge beside the fireplace and is finished with wood plank siding. The downstairs has a bathroom and workbench built in the front left corner, and the front half (below the upstairs area) has 12ft ceilings. The far end of the garage (where the lift is) is slightly vaulted and comes in around 15ft or 16ft ceilings I think. We also installed a gas heater on the back wall up at the ceiling.

I really need to get some more up-to-date pics lol. If interested, I can try to take some new ones and post them up, but I warn you, the garage is now a mess with stuff that came from my apartment lol.

Hopefully I can revive this thread with motivation not to let your garage look like this...
