that harbor freight one is nice... i need to go measure what kind of clearance I need under the car. I like the looks of the jegs one better... but the harbor freight one is about a half inch lower...

That summit jack looks the best for clearance, its low profile a ways back towards the handle, harbor freight looks decent too. That jegs one looks kinda cheap and isnt very low profile.

How would these work for reaching the middle of the front k-member thats where i usually jack up, so the lower the profile the further back the better.

Did the same thing here, why buy another jack if you have one that works good already.

Thumbs up

Nice find! Would there be a possibilty of you measuring the center of the lift pad back to the beginning of the raised area of the back of the jack?

Default Good choice for low jack-up

Recently, I made order Arcan XL35 (#144236) 3-1/2 ton and can liftup ~20" & 1 yr warranty thru NorthernTool.com. It costs me 149.99 plus s/h $59 to my "business garage"= ~ $227.
I had been researched on floor jack thru few forums/consumer reports/others. I hope so, I made choose the best jack lif-up>> Arcan XL35.

I copied from Northern Tool.com:::::

8 out of 8 would recommend to buy......

Doesn't your ta weight more than 3000 its always safe and smart do buy a jack that's overrated for your cars weight. I have a aluminum jack that was rated for 3000lbs and I lifted my impala with it and it broke from the frame.

If you're referring to my post; yes, the Trans Am weighs over 3000 lbs. The jack I have is rated at 2.5 tons (AKA 5,000 lbs.)

easiest way ive found is to just keep a couple small peices of wood 2x4's and drive up on them, it raises the car enough to get a regular jack under it. its cheap and easy.

Really? I guess they started making them cheap since my old 10 year old Sears jack is still going strong.

I have an older sears jack that is phenomenal, 48in from the handle to the lift point. Never had an issue with it, it was my grandpas before he passed and hes had it FOREVER. Only jack Ive ever use that you can pick up the car by the pumpkin from the back with the handle still straight up. My neighbor just bought a newer sears jack and it gave out lifting his nova, guess they used to be good but not so much now?

Thinking about getting a new lower profile one for quick stuff around the garage though, my current one is, well, slightly large, haha.
