Little update on this thread.
I have had the ezcarlift for couple of years now myself
Works without issue.
This failure happened while car was up on the lift and happened
while trying to move it on the casters.
Something got in a bind while being moved and the lift tweaked.
With the lift off caster wheels it is VERY stable and VERY safe.
Ezcarlift sent out a letter with "upgrade hardware" to secure the
end caps of the lift better to keep this failure from happening again.
Ezcarlift noted this failure in the letter and even referenced where to
find it on the internet. They claim this the only failure that has been reported.
Only way this lift would have collapsed on someone was if they were
under it while trying to roll it on the casters.
I would still recommend this lift in a heart beat.
Easy to use, Easy to store, Works great.

Also,
Why would you guys think this lift is more flimsy then 4 jack stands
held up with a 1/2" cross pin on each.
Picture puts it in perspective
![](http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i248/rbarn1234/ezlift4.jpg)
When I first got mine, I did not oil it correctly and while the car
was up in the air I stripped and disintegrated the internal end-box gearing.
The lift did not collapse and was actually a pain to get the car off it.
Company replaced end gear boxes for free even though it was my mistake.
This threads failure happened while the car was being rolled around
while supported on the lift. Company even gave him a full refund when
he was not satisfied.
I think this is a good product with a good owner behind it.
If he could make them by thousands/per day then I'm sure the price would cut
in half, but this is a small owner/designer one man company.

Soemthing this important should never fail under any circumstances. A grenade should go off under the car and the lift should still be holding steady....
At least that should be the thinking going on when a lift like this is built and used.. and obviously thats not the case.
If this was cheap then I could at least say thats what you get for a cheap product but at 2k **** that.. thats so past unacceptable I dont know where to start.

You are taking a one-off freak accident that could not be reproduced and labeling the product as junk over it.
ANY new design will have some flaws that will be discovered over time
and with real world abuse.
Ezlift quickly addressed this failure with an update and this
was a failure that happened while the lift was out of normal operational parameters.
This is NOT a cheaply built product.
This is NOT a flimsy lift
Take the blasted thing off freak'n caster wheels and you could throw
a grenade under there it would hold steady.
I shoved and bumped and pushed the hell out of my car while up on the
lift to make sure how steady it is. This thing is rock solid.

Even the big lifts fail at times. There were pics floating around of a BBC equiped 68 Camaro that fell off of a two post lift when one side of the lift failed. However, it looks like the pics were pulled off of the net. So stuff happens and what separates a good company from a bad one is what they do after something goes wrong. Seems like this one did the right thing.
