.
Tried looking online, maybe I'm blind or tired. Probably both.
What tap do you use with a 3/8 course.
I snapped a starter bolt & couldn't get it out clean because the dry sump pan is huge.
Now that I screwed it all up, I need to fix it. A buddy gave me an insert, but lost the tap??
I'm sure it'll be some weird size I need to order, so I want to do it right the 1st time.
Thanks guys.

Don't use a standard tap! If you are going to be putting in a Heli-coil brand insert in there is a special tap size for that. I would do a Google search for Heli-coil and find their website. Or if you do know the size some taps have an STI on them. This is also a heli-coil tap.
Let me know if you need any help finding out this info.

That's why I posted. I went there & couldn't find the tap size.
I was hoping someone had one they could look at.
I'm sure I'm just missing it, but I couldn't find it at their site??
Thanks.

No thanks, I have several places I can buy or borrow. I'm just feeling stupid because I couldn't find the damn size.
I have to get this done today, if I want to race Sun.
After I finish with a big customer that is due in shortly, I'm heading over to just buy a whole kit.

Those bastards. Just went & got the whole kit.
The tap is marked, for use with 3/8-16.
They didn't even mark what it actually is!!!

Insert taps have the size on them but it's what size fastener goes in them . As stated before they'll have the size (3/8-16 STI in your case ) . They can also be machined by thread milling , I have all the data to ensure the correct size . If you need any help let me know .
