I got one for christmas, wasnt the digital one, but the ring that you turn to lock it in place broke a few days ago on mine while putting a new A/C compressor in. Not sure if the digital ones have this ring though. Im not 100% sure but I think snap on has a lifetime warranty, Craftsman Torque wrenches are the ONLY hand tool that doesnt have the lifetime warranty. But then again, snap on are gonna be ALOT more expensive than craftsman.

I have both the 3/8" & 1/2" older craftsman digitork wrenches, never had any issues and no rings that ever broke, my handles rotate with clicks so I guess the ring thing was a newer model, YMMV.

We got a new one in auto shop senior year that was pretty much idiot proof. I am 19 now, so unless they changed the design in the past year, I say buy it.

i have a digitork wrench not sure if its the same as what your refering to. But i would NOT buy it. Mine was like brand new the only thing i did with it was torque my lugs down with it. So like 20-25 clicks. Went to go use it a couple months later and the window where you see the numbers had filled with grease from inside the wrench. Nothing i did to it at all, looked brand new. Had to pitch a bitch fit at sears to get it replaced for free since the 90 day warrenty was up(thought it was lifetime, got it as a gift).

Moral of the story is im boycotting craftsmen(not that it matters lol). I just bought a brand new 3/8 flex head snapon torque wrench on ebay for 150 and it has a lifetime warrenty, not for calibration though.

i sell craftsman tools, yea the digis are good, the cheapo 20 dollar flex ones are good, but i try to stear customers away from the middle of the line digitorks and micotorks, the lock ring is junk, just like everyone else has said...

the only thing you have to think about is that they will all need calibration, except for the flex style, and they do have a lifetime warranty on those, but if your looking to spend in the three hundred range you can get a good snap on one

check out our cheapys tho, they are accurate if you learn to use it correctly, lifetime warranty, and i just trust them more, thats what i own....

Unfortunately Snap on does not have a lifetime warranty on their torque wrenches. I think if anything its only like 90 days.

exactly, its just the nature of a sprung wire torque wrench, its bound to wear out and break, and a lifetime warranty would just mean ALOT of freebies especially to proffesionals.... plus a warranty doesnt mean a whole lot if it doesnt cover recalibration, a wrong wrench is worse than a broken one i would think....
