Default Dewalt Electric impact wrenches

Im really on the fence about this tool. I dont want cordless, mainly becaue it adds more $$$$. But i have a feeling this damn thing is going to be too big to honestly work on an LS1 car. Does anybody have it, or something similar to the size, how well can you maneuver it around and get to bolts?

just buy a cordless 18volt best money you will ever spend, and can take anywhere, track, etc..and no cords to rub/scratch the paint

Yeah, the cordless kicks ***. Cuts taking wheels on/off in half. I also recently used it on my TQ Arm and having to put my shocks back on the rear.

I picked up a cordless 24v impact off of ebay a little while ago. It works like a dream. Just search on ebay for 300 ft/lb cordless impact. I think it was like half the price of the dewalt.

Those impacts are great for wheels, but are too bulky for almost everything else in the engine bay.

i have a crapsman electric impact that is identical size wise to that dewalt and its a pain in the *** in tight spaces.
i had a 18v dewalt cordless impact but it couldnt take the abuse but the makita cordless i replaced it with has taken quite a beating and goes without a hitch.

I have the 18v DeWalt cordless 1/2" impact, and I'm not impressed with it. I use it mainly for lug nuts and end up having to break them loose by hand, then run them off with the gun. SnapOn has a 1/2" impact that kicks *** though...it's $500+, but worth every penny IMO. The DeWalt was $300 when I got it, and is bigger than the SnapOn one but not as strong. If you want something that's strong and easy to maneuver, look in to the SnapOn 14.4v 3/8 drive impact gun, it has good ***** (can't remember what it's rated at but it feels stronger than my 18v DeWalt lol), and is very compact for it's strength.

I ended up just picking up the corded Dewalt, Ive always done everything by hand up till now, so anything was an improvement. It will easily pull the lugs off and suspension peices. motor work I will just do by hand. Hell the only things you really need it for you have to pull damn near everything out of the engine bay anyways to get to.

The Snap On Cordless impact is the best one hands down! I dont have it, I have the DeWalt one. Its good enough for me, takes lugnuts off my cars. I use it mainly at the track or working at someone elses house. Plus I paid $150 new for it with a charger and 2 batteries!!!

Do the batteries on the cordless last long enough? That's why I stick with compressed air..

They're actually pretty good(in my opinion) but I tend to rely on air tools myself

There is NOTHING better then the snap on, Period. Best $539 ever spent. I have used dewalts, suck, milwaulkee, sucks, tried a joke of a goodyear one my friend has and they all suck. Good for a homeowner, but thats about all. I didnt believe in the snap ons ( I had the dewalt) until I got one at my first job. WOW. Power up the ***, and the batteries even ni-cad last a while. Left it at the job when I left.

So Then dewalt came out with a bigger gun, still like half the price of the snap on, and claimed 325 ft lbs or something. Bought that to use at the track..... JUNK. I just sold it and I am now buying the snap on ct6850, 620 ft-lbs in a cordless impact..... Check out www.motherofallcordlessimpacts.com pretty much sums it up....

I was thinking of getting this Dewalt electric impact but you guys don't seem to be too big on it. I realize it's not as good as cordless models that are 2x the price, but is it fine for basic work at home like changing wheels or suspension pieces?

I currently have a Bosch 18V that's only rated at about 165 ft/lbs and won't even break lugs free. I can get a deal on their high torque model (21618) that's rated at 350 ft/lbs. Has anyone used this model? Assuming it would cost the same price as the Dewalt electric, which one would you guys pick?
