There are some improvements that has to be done but we cant do much as the snow under the rig is melting and the entire thing is moving. I want to build a platform and connect a Eddy brake as soon as the snow is goone!
When we got tthe axle they had cut the brake "lever" so we welded them back on, but we didnt weld them with the same lenght. That means it has much more brake power on R/h-side. This has to be fixed before we can do more tuning.
Hersker Hans and i are new to hptuners and without the "dyno" we would`ve spent alot of time driving illegal to learn the basics. Even though there is some issues that has to be sorted this is DEFINATLY worth every penny!

Long time since last update.
I tuned the RX7 and it got real fast. Love the v8 power!
V2.0 of the dynamometer has started. A concrete block is ready and the entire axle will be built in to a box with ramps etc for easy on/off. We had a few accidents so its important to make it safer! My car accedently fell of the rig and we also shot a 160 pounds steel plate 40ft with the dyno :/

» Better ramps for easy use
» Safety net/walls
» Better adjustment of brake pressure
» A read out so we get a curve to analyse
First of is the concrete block so it doesnt sink into the ground like it did when we had it lying on the snow. A good excuse for playing around with an excavator! Its built with 50cm of gravle and then 20cm of steel reinforced concrete. The entire axle will be bolted down to the block. It will also ease the job to mount steel frames around the axle. The frames wil be used as walls and for the new easy ramp solution.

I am surprised that this thread isn't 50 pages long with comments.
Using this method can't you take a known HP, lets say a tractor (with direct drive for min. power loss) and measure how quickly it takes to turn the tires on the home made dyno some random even amount of turns, lets say 10. You could hook up a crude sensor system to measure how many times & how quickly the tires are turning on dyno. With that information you could get a rough estimate of the power you are making no matter what you toss on the dyno. It seems like a cheap way to get you close on your power levels.
After you have the numbers basic math will get you your rough HP numbers.
Or am I way off?

Bill we can use that method with a slight adjustment. (atleast what i think).
If we measure the acceleration at many points so we get many linear graphs that together make a non linear one. Im not sure exactly how we can pull this of. No problem making the software or hardware but i dont know if it will work since i dont want to measure the avarage hp, but exact hp at every rpm. Not very well excplained but thats the best i can do... In Egypt with a lot of

Did some frame work around the rear axle today! The new version of the dyno has to be finished this week so i will post an update at customshit.no every evening!
