Question LS3 valve spring compressor

Who makes one? I saw Tims tools but was looking for options.....

I have the crane tool for the LS1 and I like how that one works.

Thanks.

The crane tool is very nice to work with. I have one for the LT1 which I modified to work on the LS3 heads. Yours should be very easy to modify by enlarging (making oval) the rocker bolt holes to accommodate the slight rocker offset.

We have one designed like the crane tool. It has been tested on the LS3/L92 heads and seems to work just fine.

Has anyone (besides someone from Scoggin) tried this on L92's?

I just used it 2 times on 2 LS2s personally, but could not say for the L92s yet. If i have a head laying out, i may get some pics to see how well it works. I can say that one works well for most duals out there. I doubt it could do any triples, but you rarely see those anyway. Ill see if i can get a spare L92 head....

The crane tool does not work for the L92's due to the offset of the intake valve.

This one is not made by crane though. We released it after crane went out of business last year. I am going to try to test it out today and see what I can find out. We have been told by other customers it works, but when I ask around here if anyone has used it, no one knows for hands on certain if it works. Mythbusters, here I come.

The company that owns the patent for the tools still manufactures them and there is another company out of GA that keeps them in stock all of the time now.

They work on L76, L92, LS3, and L99 heads for sure. LS7 heads are still debatable since the rockers pedestals are molded into the head.

I believe Petrazewsy bought one from them

Both tools are patented and supposed to only be made by one company. The company that made them for Crane still holds the patent and produces these in small batches.

To show the difference, LS1 tool on the left, LS3 tool on the right.

The one we have will not work due to the above posted picture. The bolt holes are not wide enough. I just made sure to confirm this a few mins ago. The part that compresses the spring will work fine but the offset of the rocker arm bolt hole will not allow the base to bolt down.
