Question Any experience with Floor lifts?

Hey if you own a floor lift or are thinking about buying one, what are your opinions, comparisons, general thoughts as far as:
does it fit your garage carport well?
build quality?
safety features?
ease of use?

Guess what I'm getting at more or less is, what did you like and was it what you thought it was going to be? I'm shopping, trying to find something nice, usable, I can pull engine and trans from underneath...etc.

Right now I'm a little at a cross roads with what type to buy as well, 4 post for the easy setup and better looks/use in an everyday carport, or the 2 post b/c of the ability to do suspension work as well.....

what are some ways that suspension chassis work can be done on a four poster? put a jack across the width of the lift?

no response? I'm just looking for a lift for personal use....checked out superlifts, really expensive, but i like the idea of the jack bridge that makes suspension work possible, which they have as a package deal. Any thoughts?

I have a four post that I use on a regular basis. I purchased "rolling jacks" that go between the runways so that you can lift the car off of the runways for suspension work and then lower it back onto the runways for final tightening the proper way.

Greg Smith Equipment They are still about $600 but worth every penny if you need them.

I know that things are expensive in HI, but $1800 to wire it? And $1400 _installed_, isn't half of installing it wiring it?

i had inground lifts at the dealer when they upgraded my bays for the H1 hummers. They suck, lol. if all you do is trucks they are fine, but the lift arms are too tall and the ramps to go over the arm pads drag even on stock cars. a good 2 post would be my suggestion, especially with the ground in louisiana. even in houston our dyno pit would get enough water in it to throw a rooster tail every once and awhile, lol

Default 2 post lifts

I have a two post Naussbaum up at my house in Kansas. It's ok, though it has the overhead beam with the Equalizer cables. In 2 years with moderate use, no problems.

Here in Jax. FL. I found a 2 post Mohawk System 1 9,000 lb. Only thing between the towers is a hydraulic line and a clear floor. It's also built like a tank ! Will fit under a 10ft ceiling but you really need 12ft if you want to lift a pick up.

I installed one of these in a shop years ago in Kansas and it worked flawlessly.

Mohawk's are a little pricey, but get what you pay for .

Can't wait to get it installed at the house I'm buying for a cam change and stage 2 port on the heads

Check out Craigslist in your area. That's where I found both of mine.

Doing suspension work on a 4 poster? You'll need some sort of jacks between the runways. Negative about that is you won't be able to drop any engines out the bottom !

No it has rear wheels, the thing weight about....900-1100 LBs. the hydraulic station, has a lift point to where it doubles as a rolling jack for it.. my fav, feature is that you car park over it and it goes un-noticed.

Its powered off 110v house current. a gallon of self contained hydraulic fluid and thats about it.

Exactly, Plus If i move, I just drag it onto a trailer and move.. nothing permanent.
Its good for front and rear suspension work. The only issue I would have is Trans removal for an F body as th ecenter brace of the lift gets in the way. but I love it.
