Pneumatic or cordless Impact Wrench?
I finally picked up a cheap 8 gallon air compressor when there was a nice clearance at Lowe's the other day mainly to use for small stuff around the house, inflating tires, and what not. It is a Campbell Hausfeld and is rated at ~2.5CFM @ 90 psia.
I have no illusions that this will run real air tools or an impact wrench very well, but now I am trying to figure out whether it would be better to go with an electric or air driven impact wrench since I have the air driven capability now. I already have DeWalt 18V power tools, so I'd be able to pick up just the impact driver for ~130 without the battery packs.
I am pretty confident that I will eventually own both pneumatic and electric versions, but I don't really want to buy both right now. If my puny compressor right now won't really run a decent impact wrench well, I'll pony up to the electric and get the pneumatic later after I've bought a shop type compressor instead of a portable one.
What say ls1tech? Thanks for your opinions.
P.S. I'm not really concerned about any particular brand of cordless impact wrench. I like DeWalt tools, already have batteries and I'm not paying Snap On prices and don't really want to have an assortment of 18V battery packs that need to be charged anyways.

if you dont have any heavy removal to do, the cordless dewalt will work fine. On a side note, I just sold my 18v dewalt for a 14.4v snap on 3/8" impact, it charges faster and has more power, but not on paper. I also have the ct6850 1/2" snap on and it is bad ***, more powerful than my older ir air gun.

Hey all... I know this is a 6 month old thread, but...
Exactly what model Dewalt 18v impact driver are you guys using? Can someone post up a link to amazon or eBay?
I'm looking to buy a used one, mainly for the purpose of changing wheels out at the track...
Thanks in advance!

So it looks like most are using 18v. Do I need the 1/2 drive or would 1/4 be ok?
Like I said before, the main purpose would be to change from street rims to bigs/littles at the track.
Here a link to one on eBay... DeWalt 18v with 1/4 drive...

An impact driver is good for putting in lag bolts and such.
You need a 1/2 impact gun to remove lug nuts.
I got my CTC Mastercraft 18V with case, quick charger and 2 batteries for $89.00 it was on sale for less than 1/2 price.
I still bring my breaker bar to the track just in case.
