Bearing Installer and Remover
Bearing Installer and Remover I'm looking for a Bearing Installer and Remover set. I can't seem to find one and I need it for installing gears. What do any of you use for this? Brand etc?

Well they have race installers. To press bearings on I use an assortment of scrap pipe I have laying around. You could get you a few pieces from a local scrap for literally pennies per pound. Great thing to have when you have a press. Specifically, for pinion bearings you will need a piece of pipe about 8 inches long to push the inner (big) bearing on. It doesn't have to be the perfect size as you can always flip old bearings over and push on them. They can be used as adapters of sorts. The outer (smaller) pinion bearing doesn't need to be pressed on. For the carrier bearings just use an old bearing flipped over then a smaller (2x2) piece of plate sitting on top of it to push on. To install the wheel bearings and the 2 pinion races into the housing you use something like:

You use them with the wedge side down for races, and wedge side up for the wheel bearings.

To remove the carrier bearings I usually cut the inner race with a dremel and split it with a hammer and chisel. Some say 2 jaw pullers will work but I have never been successful.
