Default Engine stand mounting

Not sure if this is the right area or not, but i''l give it a try.

I just picked up my 5.3 for my first LS engine build. I never knew it, but there is a bellhousing bolt on the block that isn't threaded. Where are you guys mounting the engine stand to on the block? I usually use the top 2 angled points and bottom holes on a regular SBC. I wanna make sure this thing is secure hanging there.

Either the lower 4 for all or lowest on passenger and normal on the driver side. Either way is fine.

As long as they you dont have alot of weight on the stand, there shouldnt be a problem. We usually mount them to the to the holes on each side of the transmission dowel pins.

I'll mount it like Jesse said, right now this is a full dressed motor. Will be lighter once the manifolds and EFI stuff is all removed.

I honestly don't remember, it was a cheap stand i picked up at an auto parts years ago. It has since been heavily modified for strength, holds BBC's no problem. This is my first LS based engine, new learning curve for me.

I use the same method

The top left mount in the pic is a harness ground point, but uses the same size bolt as the bell housing
