Default Need tips for removing oil pan without hoist

I Need tips for removing oil pan without a hoist or clearance to just drop the pan..

I need to jack the motor up off the motor mounts slightly so I can get to the oil pump pickup bolts.

I'm doing a cam swap and want to replace my oil pump and timing chain for insurance reasons, I don't know how many miles are on this motor.

Anyone have any tips or tricks I can try?

You don't need to drop the pan all the way. Undo all of the oil pan bolts, but leave them in one or two turns to keep the gasket lined up. The pan will drop about 1/2" which is enough to get a 10mm crescent on the pickup tube bolt.

Just be VERY careful taking that bolt out and be ready to catch it when it begins to fall.

I don't have that much room, my pan is within 1/8" of the crossmember at the front

You could get an engine support bar to hold it up, then lower the k member a little to pull the pan off.
