Drill press question
I guess it depends on what you're looking for/what you'd be satisfied with, but I wasn't going to settle for the typical 5-speed chinese-cheapo bench-top unit that you see everywhere, because what works for "Joe Homeowner" who's wanting to build a bookcase really isn't the best idea for us gearheads.
I kept an eye on the local classifieds for a little while, & found a 16-speed drill press that runs smoothly & quietly, doesn't take up much floor space, & only cost me $110. The only "gotcha" that I encountered is that it didn't come with a chuck key - and at the time, I didn't know that there are a variety of chuck/key configurations, I'd never thought about it, but figured that they were all pretty much standardized. Had to go to the local Tool King, but I got one that isn't exact, but is pretty darn close, so it should work just fine.
