Folding engine hoist HF?
There is one from Harbor Freight for $199. It has a hydrolick piston and standard hook arrangement....
Anyone have this model; it seems like a good deal for the price... hey what could go wrong; right?

You gotta watch engine hoists. Our cars have very long noses... if the hoist doesn't extend far enough, you'll have to push the hoist against the nose of the car (and stand a chance of scratching the car). I've had that happen to me on a borrowed hoist (I did use a towel to prevent scratches, but I didn't like having the hoist pushed against the nose of the car).
Later, I looked at the HF fold-up hoist, but decided upon an ACDelco hoist instead - because it had a longer reach on the boom. The ACDelco hoist extends nicely, and doesn't push up against the nose of the car. I don't remember the difference in dimensions though.

I got a lift from advanced auto parts. I think it was 210 + I bough a 40 dollar load balancer from harbor frieght. They rent lifts near me for 40 dollars a day, but I have used mine so many times over the last year it was well worth buying. I am building a kit car so the engine went in and out more times than I can remember. If you have room to store it I would just buy one. People like to borrow it so occasionally it brings in some free beer
