Tired of broke/ beaten old brush hog always giving me problems..... Found a new 6fter at dickey bub for 1800$ and decided to mad Max IT.... Figure only future problems could be broke gear box or trashed drive shafts, should hold up good. Brand new. Mad max brush hog.....

Was there an issue in the old one with the 3 pt.hitch frame fracturing?
I could see that as a potential weak spot on this one, which, it seems, you addressed QUITE effectively! LOL
This particular set up goes through hell, hills/gully's/rocks/stumps/2+ in thick junk at a time. I'm lucky if I can get one to last for 2 years. So my new game plan is buy cheap (2k or less) brush hogs and go all mad Max on it. I'm thinking about adding a slip clutch on the drive shaft to help out the gear box life expectancy as well. Just wanted to give others some ideas for bomb proofing there equipment.

Yeah, a slip clutch is a REAL good idea to protect that whole drivetrain. I'm actually surprised something along those lines isn't standard equipment on that type of equipment. Those blades are ALWAYS hitting immovable/unbreakable/indestructable **** of all kinds.

Also- Is that a 540 or 1000 RPM PTO? And what is the ratio in the right angle box, if you happen to know, or are also curious and wanna find out?
Tractor is a Ford 260c 4x4 with 63 engine HP and 52 PTO HP. And 540 PTO . the ratio on this 40 HP gear box is 1 : 1.47 , I think the only difference between a 40hp gear box and the next size up (60 HP box) is larger diameter input/output shaft and tapered bearings. So far I have 2,100$ in this but I'm searching for slip clutch prices to add to it.
Looks real good! I swear the Rural King brand, just red painted KingCutter stuff comes with a PTO shaft with a slipper in it when you get to ones that size. Do you run an overrun clutch on that thing or just be mindful to take it out of gear?
No clutch at this moment, just a grade 2 bolt and lock nut. Broke the drive shaft that came with it after 10 min. Was cast junk yokes and blew apart with tiny U-Joints. But that's OK. When I buy a implement I don't Evan expect to get a decent drive shaft any way ( damn near surprised they Evan give you one with a new purchase this day and age) Sorry no pics cause parts went in the dumpster that fast. But it's got forged yokes welded on now and big U-jouints...
