need a good torque wrench
i agree take it back...sears is like walmart..they will take anything back All of my measurement tools must be certified each year in order for me to use them on U.S. certified aircraft. Every year all the torque wrenches, mics, gages, etc., go to a shop with certs tracable to the National Bureau of Standards and I always talk to the techs about who, in their opinion, makes the most accurate and reliable tools. Sometimes the answers are surprising! The one point they all agree on and I have also heard this from tool distributors, is, a quality manufacturer of, let's just say for example, torque wrenches, will either supply a new tool with the certification paper work at no extra charge or will let you return a tool if the accuracy range is out by more than about 2% over the full range, until you get a certifiable wrench.
My personal experiance has been such that torque tools can vary greatly from tool to tool by the same manufacturer. If accuracy is critical to you, make sure you have a new tools checked by a reliable source.
