******* excellent
It makes those jobs less tedious.

I'm looking forward to using the air tools when I change the upper ball joints and shocks on my Dodge truck. I have to remove all four wheels, plus chisel-out some rivets on the ball joints. Oh yeah, use pickle fork too.

Does anyone get off on the sound of air tools? NASCAR pit stop.

I used to use mine to deter customers from wandering into the shop. Here's the scenario:

Metal workbench covered in tools, most of which are metal also. Joe ******** walks in to see how his car's coming along (I never understood that, do you walk into the kitchen at a restaurant to check on your steak?). Hook up air chisel and proceed to chisel on bench...between the sound the chisel makes and all of the tools bouncing on the bench...yahoo! I swear I've seen people crap themselves!

On my impact gun, if I hold a trigger down at a certain point under load, it sounds like a automatic machine gun firing blanks. I did this at 11pm and a cop car came rolling slowly and i saw the spotlight rays shine through the tall hedge which acts like a wall to my parking area in my driveway, then the cop turned around and did that again!

But, I think the most usefull is probably impact....but most powerfull is the air hammer . Listen to What ive done with an air hammer:

-While taking the crank pully off when putting in the cam (engine out of car) and putting the asp underdrive pulley on, we decided to put the pulley puller on the suface where the belt is instead of the convient tabs that gm puts on the underdrive pulleys...Why, Im not sure, but we did. The puller was a little small for the pully so we decided to air chisel off the groves in the pulley so the puller would get a better grip. Worked like magic...

Anybody else have fun air hammer stories???
I know what you guys are sayin on the hydraulic press thing. I remember doing the control arm bushings on my other car. It was so worth it to just pay a shop to push the new bushings in using their press.

As for the air hammer stories, I remember using mine to chisel off a lug nut that I sheared in half. Oh how fun that was, yankin on the breaker bar and I feel the lug come loose. I looked in the socket and saw only the top half! Stupid McGard spline drive lugs! Anyways, a couple of hours of drilling and hammering later my wheel finally came off. Most complicated and drawn out brake job I've ever done.

Yea I shoulda had it done with a press...but the worst part was that after the three days of changing the bushings I later found out that I wont even be using those a-arms. Thats what really got me. $40 bucks and countless hours for absolutly nothing.

As for lugnuts...I feel ya, I had a lugnut that was horribly stripped and I was able to air hammer the lug open more (third gen lugs are different) in order to hammer a socket on and get it turning. Took 5 people 2 hours to get a wheel off...not good
