Mac tools are great but we had no rep in this area for months at a time on and on. Where do you buy them for 50% off? I think the Craftsman Professional series toolboxes should do you fine. Most of the time the stores don't stock them and they're only in the catalog. You can get the Snap on, Mac, Cornwell, Matco guys to get into a price war though and end up with one of theirs for the same money I guess.

There is no comparison between Craftsman and Snap On. If you are going to use them a lot or go into the trade do not even consider Craftsman. They are fine but not anywhere near the quality of Snap On.

I learned when I shared a garage with a friend many years ago. I would strip a bolt with my Craftsman and use his Snap On to get it out.

I purchased a set of Snap Ons when I went to autobody school.

I have never regreted that purchase.

Take advantage of this deal. You will never get a low price on them again!!

Regarding toolboxes, my Snap Ons are in a Craftsman box with rolller bearings.

All of the other big name(Snap On, Matco, Mac) boxes are overpriced.

Good Luck

He's a student. I had the same opportunity (but with a $ limit IIRC) when I took a class @ the CC when I lived in Albuquerque.

Always buy Snap-On. I don't think you will ever find a Tech (successful) who would say different. I also started with Craftsman.

I agree. If you're gonna be using them all day long, Snap-On is the only way to go. If you're just gonna wrench from time to time, Craftsman is just fine. Just my, and my hands' opinion of course.

Look at NHRA.com, then click on "Photo Gallery", then click on T. Bartone and T. Wilkerson.

Craftsman is the Official Tool of NASCAR....

But I guess no professionals use Craftsman..

dude craftmant is the official tool of nascar yea thats why you always see matco trucks, and snap-on banners all over the place, and in nhra all you see is snap-on at matco tools, i never seen craft mac and cheese on nhra ok. No matter what anyone says there is no better tool than snap-on, not even kentmore industrial and they put craftman to shame with their specialty tools. now you all do know this thread is like 2 month old right!!

Our Snap-On recipt says " There is hardly anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper" amen. Snap-On all the way. It does not make sense to buy tools twice.

That's why I bought Craftsman. If something breaks, I don't have to wait on the Snap-on guy, I can run down the street and get another one myself.

SNAP ON all the way. i've been working in shops for awhile now...had a craftsman box with some craftsman tools when i started...they had all been broke and replaced at least once so i got a snap on box and started buying just snap on or matco tools. craftsman stuff is at home now and should never be used in a shop...you'll get made made fun of...lol crapsman. however i bought a SNAP ON 1/2" IMPACT and returned it because it wasn't nearly as strong as my Craftsman 1/2", granted it weighs 3lbs more. so yah i have one Craftsman tool in my box by choice.

I have a set of craftsman that i keep in my truck, but thats because if im doing work on the side of the road or an emergency repair or something, i dont have to worry about leaving a tool behind. craftsman tools are great for your first set, but is there ever a difference compared to snap-on. The flank drive hands down is the best invention to a wrench. Unfortunately, the patent on it went out a few years ago (patent was only 75 years) and now you see the other tool makers copying it. My dad was a tool dealer for Snap-On for many years, and before that in the bodyshop they are all he used. Now whenever I need to work on my truck, I go home to use the Snap-On tools until I get my own place and set
