That's because you tried to get fancy and cut the head off a bolt to make it nice and smooth.
It sure looks pretty, but you could always just hack off a chunk of threaded rod, and weld the washer to it...
I'll be using the tool here pretty soon, we have a cam swap to do in the g/f's car..
