I wear black pants and a jean-type jacket/top. Works very well. Or, if it's too hot for the jacket, just a t-shirt that I'm not too concerned about.

I always 'recycle' my old clothes for car duty. They get so stained and torn to shreds that I'd never really want to buy 'real' clothes just for working on the car.

However, having said that, I do have a pair of Carhartt (think that's how it's spelled) overalls. They are quality pieces. Expensive though.

I don't know if they have them where you are at, but there's a chain around here called Farm and Tractor Supply. They have thin, thick, short and long sleeved coveralls. Prices go from about $20-40.

Dickies. That's what they're made for, they can take a beating. I get the black ones cause they don't show the dirt and grime as much. I also still have some of my old uniforms from when I was a tech. I'll bet ya if you talked to a local Cintas guy you could probably talk him into hooking you up with some old uniforms cheap...ya never know.

I have a couple old pairs of jeans and a small stack of old t-shirts for getting dirty. They are stained and torn up pretty badly, but that's what they're for. Another bonus is being in the military and working on the flightline. I've got 3 extra sets of freebie-issued olive green coveralls hung up at the house.

Try goodwill. I know a contractor that all of his sweatshirts he buys at the goodwill store for $5 each, that way he can tear them up and trash them. You might find a cheap pair of coveralls there.

I usually wear sweat pants, T shirt, and a sweatshirt depending on the temp outside.
With the sweat pants you don't have to worry about zippers, buttons, or rivets scratching up your paint.
They are pretty cheap also.

Retired C-5 crew member. Had enough of uncomfortable flight suits, but I have plenty of BDU's to wear out.
