Any one here use a fluid vacuum?
Neil
I use it for power steering, power brakes, engine oil, rear ends, etc.
As you know you can also add fluids using this tool.
I just changed my M6 transmission fluid. I pulled the drain plug to empty the unit and then filled the unit using the fluid tool.
I have a MBW that has a sealed trainy that I have not figgured out yet but everything else works, fine...
You can buy them at any auto parts store. Anyway, get a glass jar with a metal lid (mayo jar) and cut two small holes in the top just big enough for a piece of 3/8" hose to fit into each hole. (a tight fit is essential, as you are going to need it to be airtight) One piece goes into the transmission, and ends inside the jar. The other piece goes from the jar to the vacuum tool. When you pump the vacuum tool, it creates a vacuum in the mayo jar, and sucks the fluid out of the trans, and into the jar. Just make sure you don't suck any fluid directly into the vacuum tool. Where the hoses enter/exit the jar lid, you could probably find some kind of brass fitting that would work well. Last edited by Snootch; Feb 14, 2005 at 05:40 PM.
