Default Mig Welder

Hey im looking for a nice little MIG welder for about 500 bucks. The main use of this welder if going to be to weld up some turbo piping. My main question is gonna be what brand, flux core wire, regular wire, ect. I want the welder to run on 110 or whatever regular plug ins are.

Thanks let here ur reccomendations.

definatly use gas, not flux core or your welds will turn out crappy and leak.

I use a 300 Millermatic and a 225 miller migs at work practicly everyday. I have used 2 110VAC migs. DO NOT BUY A CENTURY. They are a POS I swear. The other was a Hobart. I welded some spots on my 02 when I was fixing it. It is pretty sweet. I had flux core wire but as said above a 75/25 mix works better in mig welding mild steel

if your wanting to do frames and rollcages your not going to find anything in that price range unless its used. I would HIGHLY recomend a 220v or a 175+ number welder which is going to put you to the $1,000-2,500 range depending on how big you wanna go lol.
Buy the biggest welder that you can offord (or whats in your price range) because you will always want to be able to weld more. Believe me...
I have a Millermatic 251 Mig welder that is insane. Its the biggest that i could afford and will most likely be my last mig welder because it can weld anything i want it to from sheetmetal to 1/2" plate. Also i have a Lincoln Pro-Core 100 converted to mig that is great for body work and will weld up to 3/16" plate but i would never trust it for frames or other structural work.

Lincon SP135 plus for a general purpose 110 volt. I would want a bigger welder for doing frames and roll cages like a 250 amp machine. Lincon 255 is a good welder, but will run about $1500.

The Linclon/Miller/Hobart welders are good. But if you have 220v oultets available where you do your welding get a little larger outfit. While 110v Migs will do good work the voltage/amp/arc/cycle/control is much better with a 220v welder. I have both a Lincoln 135 and 255, but when welding with the 135 (110v) I sometime notice arc wander or weaking when some other piece of electrical equipment is turned on or being used. It may be a wiring issue, but IMHO voltage drops are usually more noticable with 110v circuts, especially if you have to use an extension cord to reach your work that may be out in the driveway.

I used to have a Hobart and it always welded nice. They're not made for commercial use, but for projects here and there, they are nice.
