Default Walmart Jack+ Stands

I think someone stole my floor jack. It was a really heavy ancient one that worked really well. I can't seem to find it so I need to get another.

I was just curious, someone recommended a walmart jack. They said it works very well and is under 50$ and comes with jack stands. You can't beat the price if it works and comes with the stands. Does anyone have any experience with this and how well it works. Im a bit skeptical.

WalMart jacks are OK.

I bought a big SUV jack stand from Martha Stewart at Sears for $75. It is HD and really has a big reach to get the car up high.

Its one of the few Craftsmut items I own that provides good value.

...Sears floor jack - not floor stand.... anyway, it was a good value at $75...

Stay away from Walmart stuff...go with Craftsman...better build quality, stands are a bunch beefier. Worth the extra dough.

Thumbs down

One of the admins over at cz28.com had a wal-mart jack stand fail a few years ago. I *think* it was Jason Debler. You might drop him a line to see if my memory is right or not.

I have a Walmart jack. Works great. Dont buy the cheapo 2 1/2 ton stuff get the 3 ton. My jack looks like a professional model and acts like one. Buy the 1.5 or 2.5 ton stuff and you get what you paid for wether its Craftsman Snapon or who ever. Name on the jack says Blackjack. Its big and heavy duty. I bought my jackstands from another place previous to Walmart or I would have bought theirs. Again 3 ton stuff. It doesnt fail. Think about it, you gonna trust a skinny wobbly jack? Anything under 3 tons is made of thin cheap metal. I've seen a number craftsman 2.5 jacks go bad as well. Ya its say 1.5 tons or 2.5 tons but look at the damn thing, its so much less of s peice of equiptment than a 3 ton I cant see how anyone would trust that and crawl under a car using it. Same with the jack stands. My jack was like $60 I think on sale. I'll, put it up against any jack in the business. My jack would eat that skinny stamped metal bolted together craftsman pictured above. First thing that happens to those type of jacks is they get wobbly. Then they get a hydraulic leak.

I bought the jack stands from wal-mart and when I used it on my eclipse I had no worries however I put the camaro on them to change the oil once and never again. they are cheaply made and I was afraid they were going to fall on me. So when christmas came I bought the craftsman set with the annual giftcard I got.

DON'T TRUST ANY HYDROLIC JACK - INCLUDING SEARS.

Always put a couple of jack stands under the car BEFORE you get under... Only dumb people gets squished...

I hate my husky jack. Piece of **** is slow, heavy and doenst sit low enough. I have to use a scissor jack just to pry the damn thing under. =( My homeboy uses a craftmans aluminum one. A lot better. Dont know if its 2.5 or 3 ton but it seems fine to me. Plus I use stands before going under.

I had a cheap Wal-Mart Jack that is proabably the same one that you all are talking about. It crapped out on me first time that I tried to lift my truck with it eventhough it was rated 2 1/2 ton. For the difference in price, I'd say hold out for the better product, then you'll be sure you won't be replacing the Wal-Mart jack with a better one soon after you buy it.

I got my first jack and stands from them a while back, three years later the jack is loosing its abilities but the stands are still great and I feel I got my use out of them for that price. I have used them fairly hard and regularly too so if you use them occasionally they may last a while.

You do get what you pay for though. While it does work, it is slow and does not get as high as I would have liked (I recently bought an A/C Delco one).

definately wouldn't buy the 2 1/2 ton stuff from walmart I bought one cause I needed a jack quick and it was cheap well come to find out I only have clearance for it under my t/a in a couple spots. Sits to damn high. But like it was stated earlier the 3 ton stuff work great for the money.

Just go to a good swap meet like Pomona and get a REAL jack!
