Your remote feed is coming at full amperage instead of being controlled by the foot feed, turn off the remote control, turn your amperage extremely low, and strike arc it. (Just like a stick welder) Neither wrong tungsten size or cup size would cause the problem that you are explaining. You have too much amperage and not enough gas.
Try welding on some stainless plate, tubing is harder to learn on. Are you using a gas lens? When welding stainless I like to use a gas lens because it spreads the gas more evenly and gives a cleaner weld. I typically run about 25lbs/min on argon.
