Question Making square cuts in mandrel bent tubing:

Who has a solution for making truly square cuts that follow the bend radius? ...and I am not talking about wrapping various types of paper, gasket material, or hose clamps around the tubing.

Those tricks work just fine, however, I am looking for a more consistent, accurate method. What I am really wanting is some sort of jig for a vertical band saw that is easily adjustable for different bend radii, tubing diameters, and leg lengths. Maybe even some sort of a miter saw head unit on a custom table. But, here I go talking like a man with a paper ******* again.

Any ideas folks?

I have several very effective solutions. The cheapest (not the easisest) would be to clamp the pipe down to something square and scribe a line where you need it cut and cut it on your band saw. Do you have v and angle blocks? A mill? a flat scribe(lathe cutter)?

my old man had a jig that looked like a grid from the game battle ship and had pegs that went into the holes to hold the tubing
