Hey guys I am looking for a decent air powered Die Grinder / Dremel.
I will be using it for ocassional porting of tb's and polishing misc stuff... It does not need to be the best of the best. but I woiuld like somethig that works well...
(Try to keep the price under $50)
Also I am looking for some nice tips...
I would like to buy a few metal grinding tips... I think they are called carbide tips....
Any one know where I can get these?

I found a nice (looking, haven't tried out yet) carbide
burr set off eBay. Search "long shank carbide burr" and
be somewhat patient, they are not always there but
worth the search. Roughstuff.com is a one-stop source
but more spendy.
I pretty much prefer the electric die grinders (esp. since
even my big compressor wouldn't keep up with an air
one and now it's toast). Can get a foot pedal control
or a flea market Variac to dial down the RPM and torque
for aluminum. I used this sort to do my TB. I found a
very cheap one on sale again on eBay, it cost me a
buck or two plus $9 to ship (kooky, just didn't have
any counter-bidders). But the one I used is my old
Craftsman 1/4" electric which is about the only Sears
power tool I have had decent service life out of.

A buddy of mine has the craftsman one… watch out with that thing, the pin that engages the spindle lock is aluminum and very easy to shear off.
Die grinders… most people seem to like the IR’s the best, I have a couple, I have a couple of others and even a few cheap chineese HF ones (Chicago pneumatic or whatever they call them). I have to honestly say that my cheap HF angle one is probably my favorite one, followed by my IR straight grinder and down from there. I don’t seem to like any of the middle of the road ones.
I use a couple of electric ones also, a Makita and a HF one… not sure what to say about them… both work fine, they’re just different, they have a different feel and I pick up one or the other depending on the job. To control speed I probably should have gotten a router speed control but I ended up just taking the chord off a drop lamp that my wife ran over, ran it into a box that I mounted an outlet and a light dimmer switch in, and it works fine, actually I’d say that it works very well…
