Going to buy a dial bore gauge WHat brand and where? I was told to get the kind with the thumb release for the pin to minimize scratching of the bearings. I personally have never noticed any marring by the pin since it has a roller on the end anyway. I looked on ebay and cant tell what is what.

I know mitituyo(or whatever) is a good brand but is it really necessary to pay the 3x price tag for the quality? I dont like using plastiguage its a PITA and a dial bore gauge it much more precise. If you can, post a link to the place/item you would recommend. Im also going to be getting a mic set, suggestions?

Interapid makes jeweled movement dial stuff. Starrett micrometers can not be beat. If you cannot find used equipment and are able to buy new, Production tool supply has them. mitituyo stuff is a little cheaper, it is rice to own.
