Default Shortenin' the e-brake

Think it would be possible to shorten the ebrake handle by about 3-4 inches? I want to mount something and it gets in the way when i have it down...

how would i go about such a thing?

I've never seen under the leather part. Do you happen to have any pics of the mechanism. I believe it's just a rod attached to a push button on the end. Aside from the leather, it shouldn't be too hard to do.

You'd have to cut a section out of the metal handle and weld it together. If you plan on keeping the cover, I don't know how you would easily shorten that. The linkage would also have to be played around with.

bought it like that, it confused me too until i talked to the previous owner about it....he put a moser 9" along with a hooker cat back in it, while at it he said he got a good deal on the bumper and thought the bullet style tips looked better with it. must say i agree =]

eh the cover can be taken care of, i know a boatswains mate (basically the navy's all around fixer upper guy) who is good with rope, can make a sick looking handle =] and have the rope hardened. yeah...the linkage will be weird

I think you're trying to say that you'll use rope to create a grip for the handle. Couldn't you just sew the middle section you cut out of the leather back together? If you do it right, it might look pretty stock.

Just make sure you get a thread of equal color and material as the original stitching. If you're not confident that you can stitch this, since it may require a hook shaped needle and complicated stitch, you can have a professional do it.

Just take the E-brake off. How many people actually use them. and if you have a stick, leave it in gear.

But then there won't be any E-brake turns. Those are the best. Then again, you could just hit the gas hard to lose traction.

does your ebrake acutally grap hard enough to lock the back tires? I've tried before, now the pads were worn but still some left and it just slowed the car down. I always use my gas peddle to make the rears slide anyways....
