Aircraft spruce is rediculously overpriced, especially when it come to shipping. I get all mine from The chassis shop. Cheaper/ foot in bulk and ship ups ground in 8' lengths.

I saved over $200 on just 90' of 4130

i have a place near me that will special order. it may take some hunting ot find someone who will deal with it but they can get it. usualy a 5 stick minimum order to make it worthwhile. but price it out each way.

4130 isnt cheap... can you go with reg. mild steel, and increase wall thicknes to .134 or so?

2" .120 wall 4130 is some strong stuff, and being not as standard as 1.25, 1.625, or 1.75 it will cost alot....

Just the name of the game...

That size is a rule in the Formula Offroad Racing for mild steel but a little thicker

.134 is the standard EWS mild steel tubing, but a lot of people prefer .120 wall DOM mild steel, a hair lighter and consistent wall thickness.

C-moly is very expensive compared to mild steel, but if you find a place with really good pricing post it I am in the market looking to build my cage in the near future.
