I got the generic 8" puller from Harbor Freight for like $13 and so far it has worked great on my stock pulley and on my Powerbond pulley (which are supposed to be a PITA to remove). There was no rigging of anything to get it to work either, grabbed the inside of the stock pulley perfect and is just big enough to get around the outside of the Powerbond.

$13 well spent.

I used the Snap-On puller.. worked great.. no stripped threads or flared crank end.

Go get the big three jaw from autozone, you can buy it new or you can rent it and not bring it back if you want one for cheaper. On those tools you have 3 months to bring them back or you keep them and the computer sends a new one for stock. The new ones have a lifetime warranty. If you plan on getting an U/D pulley I would get the tree style puller that screws into your harmonic balancer. Alot of the UD pulleies require a different puller.

I'd buy a cheap or medium grade one because not all pulleys take the same puller. Put that money somewhere else.

I made an adapter to go from regular balancer puller to LS1 balancer. Cut slots into a 3.4L WP pulley so it fits into the 3 openings then turns about 1/8th turn and that locks it in. The regular puller is bolted to the bolt holes in the pulley.
