I need to fabricate gas tank straps. Has anyone done this and what did they use and where did you get it from? Thanks

.

On my slow car I used aluminum flat stock from menards for the 5 gal cell.
On a truck that was in an accident, I used steel flat stock, had to get from the steel mill, because menards didn't have any long enough.

I've used strips of 304 stainless before...I got it from a local steel supplier. Try calling a few machine shops in your area and ask them where they buy their raw material from?

Patton's metal supply

http://www.pattonscorp.com

has places all over SoCal. They sell scrap or left-overs from cuts as well...

I go to the one in Irwindale but there is one in Ontario as well as others depending on where you are from.
