Default lifter dowls for cam swap

hey can someone tell me the sizes ( 5/16" diamter by 25 inches???)of the lifter dowls used for holding the lifters up when doing a cam swap my father is a machinest and can cut any thing i need for free instead of buying them for 100 dollars. would wood be better or metal and if he does fabricate them should i smooth the one side down to a rounded point so it doesn't catch on the lifters?

2 rods 5/16 each about 22-23" in length. On the passenger side grind off about 5/32 the length of the rod. That done they should slide right in. Flat side toward lifters on passenger side. This is what I used and they worked perfect. DO NOT USE WOOD!!!!!

no problem, I havent tried it yet but from my researching there shouldnt be any problems.

if anything I might need to shave it down to look more like a D shape instead of O

working on piecing together the pulley installer also.

I am just buying the crane valve spring tool since its heavy duty and does 2.

also I just pieced together the air hose for the spark plug, I just took the valve out of the hose on my compression tester and the other end hooked right up to my air hose fitting.

not sure I heard some use straight wooden rods and do nothing to them as well as metal ones.

then some said they flattened it out some, who knows it will only take 5 more minutes to flat one side if needed with a grinder.
