Default finishing inside of shop walls?

What would be the cheapest route to go in finishing the walls of just rough shop? I don't want to put much into it cause its a older barn I'm turning into a small shop till we build our house and my new shop. Let me know what would be the cheapest.

discontinued panelling can be very cheap. 1/4" wafer board. If you want one step finish, cheap insulation board.
Rolls of plastic will be cheap, if you're just looking for a dirt & dust barrier. Good luck.

We framed out the interior of our pole building with 2X4's Insulation and 7/16 OSB.

Turned out pretty good:

The nice thing about OSB is that its cheap and stronger than drywall.

A 4'x8' sheet of 7/16" OSB is $6-$7.

if u have the time, then drywall (4x8 piece costs $6). insulate behind it need be. the time consuming part is the taping and mudding the seams and screw holes, but gives it a finished look when done.

Forgot to mention, you can paint some paneling, if it bothers you they are mixed & matched. You can also hang backwards & paint white. Nice & bright.
Discontinued stuff has been as cheap as 1-2 bucks. Not often, but I'm a sucker for sales.
That plastic or thin steel sheets is great stuff. My neighbors have been using it for their ceiling & walls. They also buy when on close outs.
Insulation is well worth it. Drywall is probably the nicest. The weight, labor, material costs add way up. Much easier to use a one step item. Good luck.

Be sure to paint it, or at least give it a good priming with something light. It really helps with lighting the shop. I remember when we had our shop without anything, just brown insulation and you could hardly see a thing with the overheads because nothing was reflecting off the walls.

It was a drastic change when the drywall was put up.

Metal R-Panel.

Cheap, easy to install, quick to install, needs no maintenance, will not burn ... perfect for a working shop.

I'm probably gonna use 1/4" osb. I can get it for $7 a sheet local. I may check on some thicker when I go to get it. I'm gonna put some kind of plastic behind it to keep the water out. This is just a rough poll barn with cracks between the exterior boards. I've got to get the concrete poured first. I'm not worried what it looks like. Its just a temp. solution for the next couple years. We are gonna build a new house and shop. Thanks for all the suggestions.
