Default security bit?

When looking to take apart the C5 TB, I found its held together with what looks like a torx that has a post in the center of it.

Checked Sears hardware and they stated it was a security bit and that I would probably have to get it form GM. Checked with the local dealer and they stated that they had no idea where to get one.

Where can I locate one?

Thanks,

Its called "tamper resisant torx" You should be able to pick 'em up at about any auto parts store.

McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) has them (I don't know if they sell to individules though - it might be strickly to buisiness). 55515A22 is $10.52 and is just like an fold-up allen wrench set (but it's torx).

Thanks,

I call around to some local auto-parts stores, and if not, I'll give McMaster a try.

Sounds good....but they are usually made of hardened steel. Probably not going to work too well...

used alot in the Audio Industry...try a Music Store(that sells guitars/basses/speaker/amps) and tell them you need a middle atlantic security bit.... I use them all the time when I install rack gear and the Purchaser is worried about theft or tampering.
