Clutch Alignment tool?

How necessary is a Clutch alignment tool when we put the clutch and then transmission on the engine? Im thinking that we should place the transmission on the engine prior to putting it in the car. Therefor the alignment tool may not be tooooo necessary. Thoughts?

Where can I get a clutch alignment tool? Im putting a '02 Z06 clutch on the car and I didnt get a tool with the clutch. Auto parts store?

Any parts store should have one if you need one ASAP. The LT1/LS1 tools are the same.

Diito on the gargen variety plastic LT1/LS1 tool. Only about $2 at any parts house and it's worked just fine every time (all 5 times

)

If you can ever get ahold of an input shaft from an LS1/LT1, like from a broken trans, hold on to it. Old input shafts make the BEST alignment tools as they are much moe precision fit than the plastic crap, although the plastic ones do work.
