I made one of these and used it on a full set of crane doubles. Works GREAT! Couldn't be any easier. I made my stud out of 8mm threaded rod (pretty soft stuff) and the stud made it through all 16 springs although I'll need to cut a new one for next time. Whatever Larry is supplying is probably much better.
Glad the one you made worked out so well. Hopefully mine will work as well!
Thanks Tony. I think you will find it is a little better quality than the average can make in his garage.

For the cheap price and quality of this kit, I wouldn't even waste my time trying to make one in the garage. lol

What I can't figure is all these guys using tools where you have to maintain leverage on a ratchet while you fumble with the valve locks, etc.... you almost want to put them out of their misery!

This is well worth it for anyone looking at this.I made 2 a while ago.1 that fit 918's tight and 1 for duals.I use a 2 1/2 long bolt and have used it on many cars without any thread damage. They work excellent on single or dual springs. Now it takes me less than 1.5 hours to do springs.
Only other thing you should add to this kit is a hose that screws into the plug hole so you can pump the cylinder up.Now that would be a complete spring changing kit.
(I use a compression checker hose with the valve removed)

With the recent rash of broken bolts in the head I ask how strong the stud is. I've read few post about the rocker bolt breaking due to it side loading as it compress's the spring along with water pump bolts. How much strong/better is the provided stud. Thanks for the info Larry!

looks like a great tool.
I would use a bolt with a nut on it and hold the bolt with one wrent and turn the nut, this way you get all the threads in the hole and no concern about bottoming it out in the head

The stud I supply has a very high tensil strength. It's an Allen bolt. They are very strong. As long a you run the stud down all the way into the head threads before attempting to remove the spring you won't have a problem.
Has anybody had a problem with the stud I supply? I have shipped out quite a few now and have not heard of any problems.
