Default Wiring ?s for a 220 welder.

I have a Lincoln 225 mig welder. From my basement where my electric box is, to my back porch, which is only 2ft at the most. I will be using 6 gauge wire. My question is, from my back porch to the garage is about 20ft, can I use 10 gauge wire without problems? And What Size Amp Breaker?

Thanks.

.

I used 6 gauge all the way & a 60 amp breaker. I don't like overheating my wires.

Small general list for ya....you should get your answer regardless. If you make a cord over 100ft you have to step up a gauge.

12 ga wire for 20 amps
10 ga wire for 30 amps
8 ga wire for 40 amps
6 ga wire for 50 amps

Should be on the welder. Look under the lid, over the wire feeder. Also, look at the end panels.
