Default Regional Forums

Connecticut, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Maine, Mayland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia are all under the Eastern Members board.

We have a pretty strong showing in most of these states (Virginia included) and everytime I go to this section it's hard to find someone or some event close to me that's going on. But then I scroll down to Florida has it's own subforum.

I'm not saying evey state should be have it's own forum like Florida, but is there anyway we can divide the Eastern Members group up into sections like Northeast and MidAtlantic? Something similar to the Northwest and Western sections that have half as many states? I think it would generate more interest in the Regional forums if they weren't so bulky.

Well that is one option, but I'm not a big fan of rednecks or Mexico so moving to Texas is out.

Any mods have any input on doing this?

Florida has as many posts and threads as six states combined in your area. That's why it has it's own section.

It's not out of the question, but if we divided your section in half, it would have a pretty low thread count. We'll see. Thanks for your interest and input.

Something to keep in mind: I live in Illinois. Do you think I care what's going on in Kansas? Probably not. Do you think people living in Missouri do? Maybe so. We have to divide them up some way. No one's going to be interested in what's going on in the opposite side of their region.

For the record:

Texas Members 45,952 threads; 624,427 posts

Midwestern Members 12,405; 161,054
IA, IL, IN , KY, MI, MN, MO, NE, OH, WI, KS, OK

Eastern Members 15,461; 212,440

Northwest Members 8,436; 118,847

Western Members 14,892; 278,521

Thanks for the response Sharpe, I was begininning to think this thread was going to get taken over Texas trolls

I get your point no one is really going to care about the states farthest away from them. And when you lay out the post count like that it makes sense that some of the sections are layed out the way they are. But looking just at post counts the Eartern Members are about 30 some percent bigger than Midwestern Members the much bigger than the Northwest Members. Granted if you split the Eastern members up they would be smaller sections and have a little lower post counts than some other sections but I think there would be more participation because they'd be more localized. I'm not trying to stir up a pissing match between the sections, I just think it would help out the eastern members if their sections were split up.

You have access to more data than me and can probably see which sections are growing or not. The Eastern Members are probably a little smaller now but I get the impression they're growing
