If you could only use the site after you purchased product from a sponsor then you would be correct, however since this is not a requirement of membership, I am sorry to say that that just isnt the way it works.

The sponsors pay their dues as a marketing expenditure with the same gamble as putting an ad in a magazine. They sponsor a site that draws a large number of consumers that are interested in the market they are targeting as a business, if it pays of for them great, if not, they spend their marketing dollars elsewhere.

Bottom line, you were not charged a fee of any type, nor are REQUIRED to support any sponsor, therefore the site and its resources are FREE.

Sorry about the rant, I just think people forget that this is a great resource that is GIVEN to us, we should all bitch less and just be happy!
While I have no idea what the admins make off this site, I'd be surprised if they were scraping by. Its a market economy, and there is a demand for a good LSx online resource. If this site lacked something that was extremely useful (search feature), I'm sure another site that offered it would see an increase in traffic. I don't bitch about something being broken or something costing money out of my pocket. I consider myself the average user that buys parts from other members as well as buying parts off the sponsors.

Nothing is free, and no one runs a business (or website of this magnitude) purely out of the goodness of their heart. It may be a passion for some, but at this level (LS1tech), there is money exchanging hands - don't kid yourself .

You could also make an estimate of the people that do not post at all: Simply search and research which sponsor to buy parts from. I've done it on other sites...

I see what you are saying, my point was simply that we should cut the admins. some slack since we are not directly paying for the use of this site.

Especially when the search feature wasnt shut off deliberatly, it was just having problems and Brains had posted repeatedly that he was working on it.

Trust me, I am not under the belief that this site is up just for the fun of it. Just add up the sponsor list with the monthly amount posted and it takes no brains to figure out that this is a business.

Fair enough. Both of us understand that whining about it like a little girl doesn't help .
