Search results contain invalid links

Search results contain invalid links I've noticed a number of instances where I click on the topic in my search results and it barks about it being an invalid link.
Example, I search for this string: +XFI +Crane +1.8
I click on the thread 'Older XE lobes' and it generates this message:
Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator
Sooo, if it's invalid, why did it show up in the search results?

Brains, we are having that problem I found last night. Searched and found some old threads, posted them and when clicked on it came up "invalid thread specified".
Something weird is going on, some work, some don't??????

ive gotten it a few times also. various searches, and seemingly random search results give me that error message.

Hey Brains, that XE thread had been "soft deleted" by its original poster. Which means it's still in the database, still validly linked, but only those people with permissions can view it.
I have "undeleted" it (as an example), and now all users should be able to view it. Its status is now "closed".
We face a dilemma here... should search include threads that have been 'soft deleted'?
On the down side of including them is that invalid links will show up for users.
On the up side, is that if someone is scamming members here and then deleting their threads (it HAS happened), we may be able to find the thread even though it's been "soft deleted". It'd be good to have the ability to still search soft deleted threads.

Verdad Gallardo If you get an invalid thread, please post a copy of the link in this thread (right-click on the link and hit "Copy Link Location", and then paste that in to this thread).
Or, please post the search that you are doing (exactly as entered), and then tell us which links you clicked on are returning invalid threads.
That's the only way that they can troubleshoot this. Just posting "stuff doesn't work" isn't enough to work with, unfortunately.
They cannot fix the problem if it cannot be replicated.

Search "ve tuning". 4th page 4th one down...titled something like tuning ve have to be in sd?
Not that that is an important thread for me to read, just an example of the error.
