Default 2001 (GMMG) Black Bird Phase IIX 475hp

2001 Pontiac (COPO 9380W) Black Bird #3- “The 1ST Red Black Bird Ever”

Ever regretted not purchasing that ’69 Royal Bobcat GTO? Or that ’69 Yenko Camaro? Now is the time to purchase the rare modern day muscle cars that will certainly be future collector cars. This is the true, original Black Bird. They will never make these cars again. As time passes by, less of these cars will survive. Many have wrecked or sold to careless owners.

The beauty of the modern muscle car (compared to cars of the past) is the technological advances. The feeling of driving with nearly 500hp, and still having creature comforts, is incredible. They stop well, handle well, and basically do everything well.

This unique Black Bird is piece of Pontiac and GMMG history. This is truly a one-of-a-kind car that cannot be recreated. The Pontiac Black Bird was limited to only 50 cars (from 2001-2002), (and less exists today). These cars were true modern day ‘dealer modified’ muscle cars, similar to Royal Bobcat, Yenko, and Baldwin Motion of the 1960s.

Black Bird #3 is special in many different aspects. A few highlights include:

- The FIRST red Black Bird ever produced.
- 1-of-only-2 red Black Birds ever made in 2001.
- The THIRD production Black Bird ever made.
- Used by GMMG, Inc. for its promotional purposes of the Black Bird program. Seen on the GMMG website and promotional film. Also, advertised in magazine ads for Carl Black Pontiac.
- A true WS6 package car. (Many Black Birds, about half of the 50 produced, were not originally ordered as a WS6. Instead, they started life as regular Trans Ams).
- Rare and desirable Phase IIX package- 475hp, 450tq. (Dyno results indicate additional horsepower).
- Signed by notable individuals, such as Scott Settlemire, Matt Murphy, and Bobby LaBonte.
- Total price (with GMMG invoices): $48,000+.

Black Bird #3 includes all documentation and authentication. It has always been well-maintained and garage kept. Always adult owned and driven. Never abused. Below are the specs on the car:

- Real WS6 package car: Ram Air induction system, special handling and suspension package
- Red exterior with black leather interior
- T-tops
- 6 speed

Selling from private GMMG collection. Wonderful car, only selling to pursue another GMMG car. Some pictures can be seen here: http://www.cars-on-line.com/43315.html or the GMMG website.

Asking $29,500 obo. (Offers seriously considered).

Since the Phase IIX package was installed it has about 1,600 miles. At this time, the 2nd owner (the owner I purchased it from) had Matt (GMMG) installed new dimpled rotors and shocks. The also go through the rear-end at this time and change the gears to 4.10s (for the Phase IIX package). As for total mileage on the car since new, it has a little over 70k. The 2nd owner put on most of the mileage since he drove it back and from work as a daily driver. This was when it was a base 380hp.

The car is very clean and can easily pass for 30k miles. Matt also knows the car VERY well and can attest to it's quality. I've got nothing to hide about it. It's just a good solid GMMG car that is extremely rare.

Feel free to make an offer if you would like. Thanks.

Another bump. The only reason I would ever sell my Black Bird is to get another GMMG car.

When I saw this posted my first thought was "Why in the world would anyone sell their Black Bird?"

BTW- I've heard of at least 3 being totalled.
