Sly,
Sly,
May I ask a few questions? First on the 99, did the original engine blow, or why was it replaced? Was it a factory replacement, or an aftermarket crate engine?
Does it have the original clutch and rear end?
On the 2000, does it still have the original clutch and 10 bolt rear end?
Will the gutted cats affect the state inspection?
Can I get some history on this car?
Has either car been in a wreck?
Thanks,
I'm in Raleigh, NC

As for the 99 it threw 2 rods on May 9th 2004, approx 1 year after I bought it. I ended up building a forged 6.0L and building a custom turbo for it, that went in the car for approx 300 miles and then I pulled the whole setup and sold it because I got married. After that I ended up picking up a used shortblock that I had the rings, bearings replaced in just for safeties sake. I was told by the previous owner of the engine that it had 31k miles on it when I bought it. The 99 has an A4 so there's no clutch to go out there. It does have the stock rearend but the gears, bearing, bushings have been replaced with 3.73's.
The 00 I bought from an aquintance/friend roughly 3 months ago. It has the stock clutch and rearend as far as I'm aware. I'm not sure if the gutted cats will cause it to fail inspection however I do have a set of stock cats that can go with the car if need be. I'll send you some more history on the vehicles tommorow morning from work, I have an email setup with a lot more detail about them. Let me know if you have any other questions.
