Default Are all gas stations the same?

Gas is pretty expensive in my area. Is there a difference between am/pm and chevron for example? I hear that shell is the best to use followed by bp. chevron and am/pm are the only 2 stations closest to me, otherwise I have to drive like 5-8 miles. What's the difference in gas at other gas stations?

I never buy any gas from a station that's name ends in "O"

Or any of the small family owned stations

I prefer 76, but also purchase Chevron, Mobil, and Shell.

good rule of thumb is always get gas from the newest gas stations because they have the newest tanks and never get gas while a gas truck is droping a load (or for a lil while after) cause it stirs up sedatives in the tank.....

When I used to fill up every other day, I found out the following:

15.5 gallon tank (94 Camaro)
Same route, drive type, hours every day...I tried to always use the same pumps and fill up around the same time.

If I went to Arco, which was on the average 10 cents cheaper per gallon (not counting the 45 cents to use your ATM, which @ 15 gallons, now raises the price 3 cents per gallon). I would fill up with 14.75-15 gallons. (21.6 mpg)

Chevron (usually 15 cents more than Arco) Fill up would take 14-14.5 gallons.

Mobil (usually 5-8 cents more than Arco) Fill up with 13.5-14 gallons

76 Fill up with 12.75-13 gallons. (25.4mpg)

This was when gas cost about $1.85 per gallon. Lets round up and say 2 (not 3-4 like today). My two day round trip used to be 324 miles. (81 each way)

So just comparing the best (76) and worst (Arco) by thinking I was was "saving" 10 cents per gallon, I was actually wasting money. 15 gallons x $2 = $30 fill up (or $30.45 if paying with ATM). By going to 76 and paying $2.10 x 12.75 gallons, my fill up was $26.75. Weird huh.

What was even funnier, about 2-3 years ago, right before gas hit $2/gal 76 was actually cheaper than Arco for about a year. Now they are back to about 5-10 cents difference.

Everyone says Arco gas sucks. How does everyone know this and what's the basis? I've even heard some idiots say the gas is "watered down," whatever that means. I've run Arco gas when in a pinch for money and I feel no difference with the way my car runs.

What year is your Burban? I have an 02 that I bought used with 89,xxx miles. I have just under 200,000 miles and the car has been run on Arco since I bought it. The truck has been to Mexico over 40 times, since my GF's family is from there, and we drive down to Rosarito, and sometimes further, every time. There isn't a choice but to fill up in Mexico, but even then, my truck still ran like a champ with no issues whatsoever. Still running very strong, doesn't burn any oil, and I had no problems passing cars on the passes coming back from Vegas over the weekend with a full load of cargo and a trailer.

No longer have the Burban. It was a 98. Ours had i think 119,000 when we sold it? older gen motors, so cant really compare.

I have always put Arco in my car. I had Arco premium in it when doing the cruise to SD and then the dyno shown in my sig the same day... Then again I also put Seafoam into my car so I obviously don't care if the engine blows up.

You guys should go to the Signal Hill filling station, then you'll change your mind about your "good" gas.

I can't use Arco or Chevron they both make my car KNOCK like a ****, I have tried 4-5 seperate times and come to the conclusion that Shell, Mobile and 76 are superior gas suppliers. I do have a scanner so i was able to physically watch the change from tank to tank with no other change but the gas itself.

This was confirmed by my father in his El Camino, so i usually prefer 76 if i can find it, and refuse to put either of the above listed "bad" gas brand in my car now.
