What are your goals? As much hp possible or are you trying to stay streetable and want low end torque? Are you planning on staying cam only or adding heads? What are your goals as far as rwhp? What year is your car and if its a 98-00 do you have the LS6 intake already? Is it an auto or manual? Are you preparred to have the car dyno tuned?

There are alot of options and questions to be answered when looking into a cam. That being said be sure to get what you are looking for and not just go for a huge cam then have a car that isnt very streetable.

I have a 228/232 cam, dual springs, retainers, seats, and locks that I'll sell for $300 plus shipping. If you do your research, this is a very popular NA grind that will have good midrange and top end while being very streetable.

You will make power with the cam, you just won't be getting the full potential out of the cam without LT headers.
Headers are the best bang for your buck mod. A cam is the heart of engine power production, but only when it is complemented by the right supporting mods. Either mod can be done independently of the other. Just depends on what you want to spend your money on first. Keep in mind that with the cam you will have to incorporate the cost of fluids and gaskets.

The sound will have a lot to do with your exhaust. You having no cats or mufflers, with a cam and LT headers, would get pulled over in a heartbeat. Your best bet would be to get a nice cat-back and add a cutout to be quite around town, and loud when you want to be.
Your car is a daily driver so you will probably be happy with a 224-228/224-232 cam on a 112 or 114 lsa (there are A LOT of choices). The 112 will have a choppier idle than the 114.

EDIT: My cam just sold.

No doubt, that was a great price for everything you included.
