If you mix a two they will for a gelatinous precipitate that will sludge up your system, it looks like the yellow gunk you pull out of carbs that have been sitting with fuel in them for too long. As for the chemical make-up between the different manufacturers they use different aluminum alloys in their radiators and that was supposedly why there is a difference between antifreeze recommendations from GM and other manufacturers. However I have not seen any proof of this but in the mean time I will continue to run dex-cool. I love it so much I put it on cheerios
