I never had a front license plate and I had the darkest tint possible on my car and tint on my front wind shield and I never got messed with once so I think you'll be alright!

not sure, but I have limo tint on all my windows, and I never get bothered. A bunch of my friends have black FBodies and Impalas with blacked out tail lights and never get caught. You will have to check with the vehicle code, it is probably illegal, but I never have even heard of anyone getting busted for it. I have heard of people getting busted for tint, but never tail lights. Food for thought.

ive been pulled over for having covers up in norcal. just wasnt worth the hassle so i tookem off.

my friend got a nice $132 ticket for having a set of blackouts on too.

IMO its just another reason for a cop to be able to pull you over and pop your hood.

I believe that it's illegal if the car behind you can't see your brake lights from 500 ft. My friend got pulled over and was told this but he has about 5 shades on his. Just want to know if they'll use it as an excuse even if it's not that dark..........

i had some but just too much unnecessary attention and its hard enough trying to not get hassled by cops just driving around
so i took them off because one less thing they can mess with you about

i got pulled over about a month ago... i was going 60-65 on the 10fwy on the slow lane since my mickeys had about 20 psi was just going for 2 exits and cop goes behind me. tell me he will gimme a ticket for my rear black outs (slip ON), window tint, and no front licence plate...then he said he felt nice today and only gave me citation on licence plate..

i told him i could take the rear lights off right away..he said its fine and do it later.
he also added we will crush your car if your found racing....

I heard that you may be liable if a vehicle rear ends you. This is one of the only times it could ever be the fault of the driver in front. Altered brake lens = non DOT compliant.

1 more thing for them to give you a ticket. Think about like this, let say you have a cat back exhaust (which is legal) and no modification to your engine what so ever... he's not going to want to let you go without a ticket but wait ohhh guess what your tail lights are illegal. Waam there goes your fix it ticket. TOO much hassle in my opinion.

I got pulled over once in my 96 Z28, got a speeding ticket and a fix-it ticket for no front plate and window tint but he didnt say anything about my taillight blackouts. You will get hassled if you are doing something wrong but they probably wont pull you over just for that unless tehy are looking for an excuse.

My car just screams attention so I myself do not have them on my SS, one less thing to worry about. I had them on my old Z28 and I did get pulled over for them twice. The first time I just got a warning to remove them. The second time, it was a fix it ticket. They also gave me a fix it ticket for my windows and 4 inch Mufflex exhaust.

While it looks cool, I'd say don't do it, just one more reason for the cops to pull you over if they're having a bad day.

i guess it depends on where u live. i cant get around town in my car because of the tint. 5 tickets on the tint and counting, i just pay the fine. the problem is that once i get stopped they automatically look for something else to write up and i also dont have front license plate either. i once got stopped because the cop said my brake light was not bright enough.
