Unfortunately no. Just years of experience. I'm 21 and started working right out of high school. I've been doing PC Support, A/V systems, and network related tasks since before 2003... My last job I worked for 2 years until I was laid off due to massive downsizing and pay cuts.

Yup. You can take any car related work away from me for now. I've been busy trying to find a job that will pay the bills...

Good luck man, I currently have a job in IT, but pay sucks pretty bad and I even have my BS. I've been looking around for something new, but the pay just isn't there. For example, saw an ad the other day asking for a BS degree, certs, 8+ years experience, yada yada yada, then starting you off at something obscene like $15/hour with "room to grow". Yeah right!

Well I'm in the SLOW process of gathering parts, but basically it will be a cammed/bolt-on LS3/T56.

Got a few parts so far.
I'm ~90% done building my custom plug-n-play swap harness from scratch.

What certs do you have, I am in the military and was planning on getting out. I have a current ccna, mcsa, net+ and A+ with 7+ years of experience in satellite controlling and communications operations, networking design, network admin, and recently got into telephony, to top it a TS clearance. Is the IT field really that competitive? Are IT jobs really that hard to find? Not to steal your post I was just curious, I was really confident in my field. Right now I am making salary and don't have much to complain about, but being a civilian was sounding really good. Any advice? Is staying in really the smart thing to do right now?

Cars are my 24/7 hobby. I would like it to be my career one day though.

There will always be work available for someone with your certifications and experience, and your clearance level is a huge plus. I made the mistake of not getting the various MS certs and A+ when I had the chance, although everybody I worked with told me it would be really easy for me to pass.
